Macclesfield Garden Festival has brought together all of the town’s schools, community groups and businesses, to live up to the festival's mission statement.

Let’s celebrate gardens, design, art & nature.

The garden festival will welcome RHS Gold medal winning garden designers, nationally recognized artists and sculptors, garden design professionals, fabulous floral design artists and a whole collection of musicians, dancers and local horticulturists to brighten up our world.

All the festivities will take place around Macclesfield Town Centre from Friday 19th May - Sunday 21st May 2017.

Schools Projects

Macclesfield Town Hall

Town Hall

The four high schools in Macclesfield that include, Tytherington School, Macclesfield Academy, All Hallows Catholic College and Fallibroome Academy are each decorating one of the Macclesfield Town Hall’s pillars.

Macclesfield Yarn Tree

Yarn Tree

King’s School will be working with Macclesfield’s Primary schools children to create The Yarn Tree. King’s School sixth form art students will be creating the tree base out of wire mesh, timber and fabric off cuts.

Spring Wassail

Spring Wassail

Our primary school children will  lead all the visitors in the ancient tradition of the wassail. Using whistles, tamborines, and more, to scare away the winter and welcome the summer.

RHS Garden Designers
Landscape & Sculpture Show

RHS Gold Medal winning garden designers will be joining nationally renowned sculptors and artists and professional landscape companies to create a fantastic spectacle for garden lovers.

There will be workshop area where various pursuits such as flower arranging, understanding natural food and vegetables and willow sculpting can be tried. Food & drink will be available at the venue.

Floral Art
& Sculpture Show

Some of the country's top Floral Art designers will be coming to the festival to create amazing floral designs, along with local florists who will be invited to create smaller pedestal designs.

This will be enhanced by sculpture that will be intermingled with the floral works. We are hoping that the local high schools will be providing classical musicians to entertain the passing festival attendees.

Retail & Business
Planter Competition

Local shops and businesses are invited to take part in a ‘planter competition’.

The more creative the better old buckets and tins, to contemporary planters created from fibreglass. There will be a prize for the most creative eye-catching design.

This will brighten up the whole town centre for ten days in spring from Friday 19th May – Monday 29th May.

Music, Dance, & More
Events

Events include music, provided by the talented students from our high schools who will be performing at different locations around the town centre.

Macclesfield Youth Brass Band and other brass bands will be entertaining the public at the events at the festival.

Dance academies will be performing various routines, from Morris dancing to contemporary dance. Bella Danza will be choreographing a contemporary dance based on the life cycle of a wildflower seed.

Commerce

Plant Sales

A major local trade nursery will be attending in Market Square, Macclesfield, with a large trade stand offering unusual specimen plants and high-quality border perennials.

In Christ Church gardens many of the landscape designers will also be selling plants related to their designs, allowing the public interesting design ideas of how to use relevant plants and flowers.
